ABOUT
PACE
PACE stands for Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers
International Union. It was formed on Jan. 4, 1999 by the merger
of the United Paperworkers International Union with the Oil, Chemical
and Atomic Workers International Union.
WHO
WE REPRESENT
We represent most of the people who make paper and refine oil
in the United States. In addition, our members make chemicals,
nuclear materials, pharmaceuticals, automobile and truck parts,
appliances, small engines, motorcycles, boxes, tissues, toys,
cement, corn sugar and many other products. We even represent
registered nurses.
OUR
PURPOSE
Our purpose is to organize workers to stand up for their rights,
both in the workplace and in the political arena. We work to help
our members raise their wages, improve their working conditions
and protect their rights by negotiating and enforcing fair collective
bargaining agreements.
We
stand for the rights and fair treatment of every worker and everyone
who depends on their earnings. We stand for jobs, equality, freedom
of association, health care as a right and the right of all workers
to organize and bargain collectively. We believe every one of
our members, and every other citizen, has a right to a safe and
healthy workplace and to a safe and clean community.
